Joseph “Joe” Lawrence De Costa Jr., 85, of Mountain View died July 28 at home. Born in Pahala, he was a retired heavy equipment operator who owned Joe’s Bulldozing Service and worked for Yamada &Sons, the former Hamakua Sugar Co., and Willocks Construction. Visitation 10-11 a.m. Friday at Borthwick Hawaii Funeral Home. Service at 11 a.m. Survived by sons, Gordon (Pat) De Costa of Mountain View and Leroy De Costa of Waimea; daughters, Debbie (Walter) Wong Yuen of Pahala and Charna (Aaron) Ontiveros of Las Vegas; brother, Raymond De Costa of Washington; sisters, Lorraine (Walter) Gonsalves of Honolulu and Frances (Hank) Kirkland of California; nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; cousins. Juan Lampitoc, 97, of Honokaa died July 31 at Hale Hoola Hamakua. Born in the Philippines, he was a retired farmer for Trans Pacific Nursery. Jack Fredrick Moore, 85, of Volcano died Aug. 2 at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born in Seattle, he was a massage therapist and U.S. Air Force veteran. Services TBA. Jean Narikiyo Yamanaka, 79, of Hilo and formerly of Molokai, died Aug. 2 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Captain Cook, She was a retired elementary school teacher, member of Kula Wahine Golf Club, Palaka Golf Club, Lehua Women’s Golf Club, AJA Women’s Golf Club, and Alpha Delta Kappa. Visitation 3:30–5 p.m. Monday at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service at 5 p.m. Casual attire. Survived by husband, Harry Yamanaka of Hilo; daughters, Lois-Ann (John M.)
